Alas, bed, we knew ye well.....

Furniture has been flying outta here at an alarming rate!! Actually, not so much alarming as thrilling and exciting!! Things are happening! Measurable things! There is visible, physical evidence that we are moving, that this wild and crazy plan is truly going forward.
Yikes! and also Wooohooooo!!
So far stuff leavin' hasn't made me sad or anxious...just exhilarated!! (as evidenced by all the exclamation points I am using!!) I can't wait to see more empty rooms!! More packed boxes!! More bare cupboards!! Vacant closets!!! Expansive surfaces with nothing on or near them!!! Like a swami about to hit the desert in search of enlightenment, we are un-burdening ourselves of our earthly possessions, freeing ourselves of materialistic ties, clearing the path to nirvana and lemme tell ya, my peeps, it feels gooooooooooooood.

Except, of course when we go to bed at night in our former guest bed. Which feels a little like this:

When it's time to turn in, we no longer say "C'mon Honey, let's go to bed," we say "Get in the can."

Like taking candy from babies

Lil Bingo and Lil Rob

Thunder Lacrosse Party - 3/24 10pm

Kelly & Hannah were so busy marveling at how they were like clones, that Kenny G. and I were able to slip away to the card table to play Spades..

Our opponents : Rob and party host Bingo.

I know what you are thinking... Kenny AND Chris, the Jedi masters of spades, on the same team ? How is that fair ?

Well the answer is...it's not fair and it wasn't.

Score :
Chris & Ken 439
Bingo & Rob -371

Spades Jedi Masters Chris & Ken

Roll on Mighty Thunder

With only a couple months till we depart, life is becoming a series of "lasts." Here are some photos from the last official Tampa Bay Thunder Lacrosse event we'll be attending. Lacrosse has been good to both of us - we've met so many wonderful people and made some life-long friends...here are some drunk photos of them.....
Some of da boys...

Hannah (my double for the night) and Ken.
Our lovely hosts, with the kickin' party pad, Bingo & Bobbi.

Me, with Frank's hot mamma.

Michelle & Rob.
Ralph & Pete.

Some leprechauns for Becky

Hamster + Leprechaun = Good Times

Leprechauns RAWK!!!!

Have a pint with this guy?

And, no.

We'll have a pint with him.

As much as we like Notre Dame...this pugnacious little fella looks like he'd be trouble.

This leprechaun looks like a lot less trouble.

I hope this guy doesnt live nearby!!

Brown, Foamy and.....delicious?

So we move to Ireland in about two months. Yikes! My mind is constantly whirling with things to do, preparations to make and questions about our future.

Questions like....oh.....I dunno......WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING??? Is this the biggest adventure we will ever embark on or the stupidest thing we have ever contemplated? Probably a combination of both. I am so unsure of virtually everything that it thrills and terrifies me in equal parts.

Why are we leaving a perfectly comfortable and enjoyable life behind??

Why wouldnt we??

Why give up all we have when we've worked so hard to get it?

Why stay stuck in a rut?

Each issue is a mental tug in two directions and I've taken to losing myself in a book and a glass of wine whenever I can, just to give my mind a rest.

So we'll focus on one task at a time - must concentrate - much to be done - stay on point. But after all the recent hard work - I've decided the next task will have to be an easier one:

In preparation for life on the Emerald Isle, I've decided I must arrive there with a healthy appreciation for Guinness. Only problem there is I don't really like beer and as much as Chris says it's different, when I taste it I disagree. Beer is beer is beer. Ugh.

BUT!!! For the sake of international relations, in the name of my father, for the motherland, for my ancestors, with an eye to our future happiness I've decided to suck it up and try Guinness every chance I get. Never let it be said that I shirked my duty!! Matter of fact, I plan to pick some up today - so there.
Wish me luck.

Click your heels together three times and say...

There's no place like home! There's no place like home! There's no place like home! We have found a spot in Dublin to call home, at least for the first couple of months. Furnished rentals are not hard to find but they are all tiny and dear(bear with us as we try on the lingo for size.) We have been dealing with a realtor who specializes in short term rentals and Coppinger Row is as good as it gets as far as location goes...click on the map to check it out. We will be living in the city center - enjoying the noise and fun, exploring the nooks and crannies, getting to know our new hometown and meeting people & making friends. And because it is a short term rental the only necessity we'll have to provide for ourselves in this flat is food!! This puts both of our minds at ease and will make this exciting (and scary) transition just a wee bit easier. Here's a link if you want to see a virtual tour of the basic flat http://www.abbottmatthews.com/

An Irishman's Philosophy

In life, there are only two things to worry about—Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well, there is nothing to worry about,

But if you are sick, there are only two things to worry about—Either you will get well or you will die.If you get well, there is nothing to worry about,

But if you die, there are only two things to worry about—Either you will go to heaven or hell.If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about.

And if you go to hell, you’ll be so busy shaking hands with all your friends, You won’t have time to worry!
