Tribute to a Grandfather

If my Grandfather had a boat...I would insist he name it

"Beer and a Shot"

It has been customary, since long before I've been around, for my Grandfather to offer guests a "beer and a shot". We've had many a good laugh over this, its become his trademark greeting, well after his trademark "Hiya".

Chris & Grandpa Raymond

While on Long Island, Kelly, Alli and I were lucky enough to have a lovely visit with Grandpa & Olga. Olga hasn't been feeling well, and wouldn't let Kelly photograph her, even though we thought she looks great, despite all she's been through recently.
Please keep her and Grandpa in your prayers for good health and happiness. We had lunch and drinks and plenty of good conversation.

Ray & Olga - Christmastime, a few years ago

"The bells are ringing for me and my guy.
The birds are singing for me and my guy"

4 generations of our family
My nephew Jimmy, Brother Brian, Grandpa, and Dad

My Grandfather has been drawing & painting for many years, here are some pictures I took of his paintings a few years ago. The pictures really don't capture the beautiful detail of his paintings.

Although my Grandfather rarely drives anymore at 86, the funniest quote I found about Grandfathers was :

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather..not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. - Will Shriner

Ray Maddock is & has been many things. Husband, Father, Friend, Soldier, Weightlifter, Hand balancer, Gym owner, Fitness nut, Sperry employee, Veteran, Yankees Fan, Barbershop Quarteter, Nassau County Sports Commissioner, Painter, Artist, Avid Golfer, Guitar player and the list goes on. Most importantly, to me, he has always been the worlds best Grandfather.

Thanks Grandpa.

Thank you for sharing those lovely thoughts about your grandfather Chris. He sure seems like a fun guy. I sent the quote to my dad about the granparent being quick on the draw when it comes to pulling out pictures. My dad is always pulling out pictures to complete stangers, mostly in airports.
Your grandfathers artwork is beatiful. I especially like the one w/ the little girl and the daisy's.
